S1 / S2 Course
Why We Study Art?
Everyone watches TV,
video or films, looks at illustrations and photographs, is influenced by
posters and advertisements.
Our
environment is affected by the actions of people all around the world. We
live in buildings, decorate and furnish our homes, buy clothes and use
products designed and manufactured by industry.
Art and
Design is concerned with developing understanding of the visual world in
which we live and in helping individuals express and communicate their ideas
and emotions.
The
Subject Skills
Art and
Design helps us understand what we see, develops imagination and creativity
and provides the practical skills with which visual work can be produced.
Knowledge and our ability to comment in artistic terms is developed through
