RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Why We Study Religion
Religious
Education is concerned with understanding the experience of human beings in
their search for meaning, value and purpose in life. The religions of the
world are the classic expressions of this search. Through their
understanding of the search, pupils are helped towards a deeper awareness of
their identity, enabling them to grow and develop freely in a world of
divergent beliefs and values.
The Subject Skills
The Religious Education Course is designed
so as to enable pupils to:-
-
Identify the area of religion in terms
of the phenomena of religion and the human experiences from which they
arise.
-
To enable pupils to identify and explain
the most important aspects of a religious issue.
-
Explore the nature and meaning of
existence in relation to the questions religions pose and the answers they
propose.
-
Develop a consistent set of beliefs,
attitudes and practices which are the result of a personal process of
growth, search and discovery.
